NEW Dance Classes: Join us as we launch brand new dance classes at Center Stage! Whether your a beginner or an experienced dancer, come hone your skills with Beginner Ballet, Intro to Musical Theatre and Tap I! Courses are offered for all age groups. Thinking of getting your little on started with dance? Enjoy Tutus and Twirls for an introduction to ballet and musical theatre dance!

Private Voice Lessons: Teachers Michelle and Kevin are here to teach vocal technique and develop the instrument that is your voice! Individual lessons will focus on vocal technique, exercises to expand range, increase resonance and master dynamics. Together you will solve vocal problems, develop a program of exercises and achieve the sound you're looking for. Lessons can be  30-, 45-, or 60-minutes. See our Voice Lessons Page for more details!

Fairytales Alive: Do you love princes and princesses? Do you enjoy magic and tall tales? Then you’re ready to bring some of your favorite fairy tales to life with this magical class! Join Kayla on a journey through the making of some of the world’s most beloved tales. In this class you will learn about how these stories came to be and, develop ideas on how to perform them yourself. You will act, sing and dance through some of your favorite fairytales as well as explore costuming, games and role-playing! Come explore stories like Snow White, Cinderella, The Three Little Pigs and more stories we know and love!

 

Musicals in Depth: Here we go again! After a record-breaking run, we are so excited to bring Mamma Mia! back to Center Stage, but this time, to the Education Center! Taught by Michael, who played Eddie in the Center Stage Production, students will sing, dance, and act their way through the story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs about love, laughter and friendship. Mamma Mia! tells the story of a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father. Taking place on a Greek Island paradise, she brings 3 men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.

 

Movie Musicals: Do you dance out of your movie theater seat when a cast bursts into song and dance on screen? If the answer is yes, this is the class for you! Join Anthony as you explore some of the best movie musicals ever to hit the screen! Discover what it takes to get a musical onto the big screen and learn about a new musical each week as you explore the production itself, the music, choreography and, the popular actors involved! Get ready to dive into movie musicals such as Into the Woods, High School Musical, Camp Rock, Grease and more, with this awesome class!

 

Jumping Off The Page: Get ready to jump into some of your favorite stories as you join Chelsea for this fun class! In this class you will work on character development, plot and writing scenes based on some of the most beloved storybooks of all time! You will use your knowledge of well-known characters and stories to perform scenes through Reader’s Theatre and work on putting yourself in your favorite character’s shoes. Don’t miss out on a chance to fall in love with some of your favorite stories and books, all over again!

 

Acting I and Improv: Get ready to sharpen your skills as you work with Sandra on acting and improvisation! In this class you will learn first-hand the basics of acting for the stage – from simple stage direction to projection to gesturing. You’ll also learn why improvisation is not just about comedy and performing, but a way to act on stage with freedom, confidence and positivity. Students will learn about the importance of improvisation and it’s relationship to on-stage acting through lessons, games and activities that will test their ability to think on their feet, work with others, build effective communication and listening skills and, self-confidence!

 

Acting the Song: Join veteran Center Stage performer, Justin (JZ) Zenchuk as you dive into the meaning and acting involved in performing a song on stage! In this class you will work to understand the character development, message, impact on plot and progression that take place in a single musical number. You will learn about communicating with the audience, an on-stage partner and discover for yourself, why a song is nothing without adding a little spice!

 

Production Design: Are you interested in the behind-the-scenes work that goes into putting on a show? If so, join Sandra as you learn about all of the off-stage aspects of putting on a production! You will work to uncover the ins-and-outs of lighting, set, prop and costume design and the important roles they play in a successful show. You will also have the opportunity to test your knowledge by designing creative aspects for a production, yourself! Don’t miss out on a class that will surely help you appreciate everything it takes to get a show up and running!

 

Stage Management 101: Set, GO! Lights, GO! Curtain, GO! Have you ever wondered whom the person is that calls all of the shots backstage? Join seasoned Stage Manager, Cristina D’Almeida, as she gives you a crash course on what it takes to be a Stage Manager in today’s theatre world! In this class you will learn about the organization, management, responsibility and trust it takes to manage a show. You will learn from a pro about how important stage management is and what it takes to do it right. Students will love learning from Cristina as she teaches from her published book, The 10 Commandments of Stage Management – which each student will get to keep. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity and class!

 

Dynamic Duos: Sandy and Danny, Genie and Aladdin, SpongeBob and Patrick… What do all of these partners have in common? They are all incredible on-stage duos! Join Michael as you learn about the importance of working in partnership on stage and discover how to do so while examining some of the best-known “dynamic duos” of our time! In this class you will work with others to develop on-stage scenes and songs that best reflect an understanding of how to work with a partner on stage, successfully! Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to take your on-stage work to a whole new level!

 

Legally Blonde, Jr.: Omigod you guys! Katie will be working with students to create a full-scale production of Legally Blonde, Jr. This will be an audition-based class. Students will be cast in roles and rehearse throughout the semester. The class meets Mondays and Wednesdays and students will be called to all rehearsals. A detailed schedule will be distributed at the beginning of the process. The performances will take place Wednesday, May 26th.

*All classes require a minimum of five (5) students to run. Legally Blonde, Jr. requires a minimum of twenty (20) students to run. Virtual learning is available when necessary for all classes.*

Singing

Students who enroll in our voice lessons will work on the basics such as pitch and tone with the goal of becoming confident singers. 

Acting

Our acting classes will have students focusing on voice and speech, character development, interpretation, projection, creative expression and more.

Dance/Movement

 Take classes such as ballet, tap and musical theater dance. Our classes will help develop you into confident movers.

Technical Theatre

Students will learn important aspects of technical theater including lighting design, set design, costumes, wigs, props, stage management, and more!
