Center Stage Classes - Fall  2020

Center Stage Theatre Education Center follows all CDC and

State regulations in order to provide a safe environment

for our students and staff.  

Singing/Vocal Performance

Students who enroll in our singing and vocal performance classes will work on the basics such as memorization and pitch with the goal of becoming confident soloists who are able to harmonize.

Acting

From Improv to Scene Study, our acting classes will have students focusing on voice and speech, character development, interpretation, projection, creative expression and more.

Dance/Movement

 Take classes, such as ballet, tap, and jazz as well as musical theater dance and yoga classes for students. A dance assessment will take place for students who wish to be placed into the appropriate level as well as anyone who would like to register for our Level II classes.

Technical Theatre

Students in middle school and high school will learn important aspects of technical theater including lighting design, set design, costumes, wigs, props, stage management, and more!

Fall 2020 CLASS OFFERINGS WITH DESCRIPTIONS

​Acting, Singing, and Dancing Classes:

LITTLE PERFORMERS (In-Person with Kayla Chuba) 

Grades Pre-K - K  MONDAY 4:30-5:15

Join us in exploring the skills of performance! This class will assist students to become comfortable on stage and learn the basic skills of performance.  

 

* Note - If there is a resurgence of COVID - 19 and in-person classes are not available, as ordered by the State of Connecticut, this class will automatically revert to an on-line class. We need a minimum of 6 students to run this class and a maximum of 14 students to comply with current CDC recommendations.

MAGICAL MUSICALS (In-Person with Kayla Chuba) 

Grades 1 - 2,  MONDAY 5:30-6:15

Let's bring our favorite songs to life. This class we will be about performing and singing songs from musicals such as Wizard of Oz, High School Musical, and more. 

 

* Note - If there is a resurgence of COVID - 19 and in-person classes are not available, as ordered by the State of Connecticut, this class will automatically revert to an on-line class. We need a minimum of 6 students to run this class and a maximum of 14 students to comply with current CDC recommendations.

AUDITION TECHNIQUES (In-Person with Anthony Tartaglia)

Grades 5-8, MONDAY 5:15 – 6:15

When we hear the word, “AUDITION”, many different emotions come to mind. Any actor can agree that auditioning is an uncomfortable situation; however, there are so many ways to help improve your audition to make it the best that it can be! This fall, this class will teach students the techniques that will bring your audition to the next level.

* Note - If there is a resurgence of COVID - 19 and in-person classes are not available, as ordered by the State of Connecticut, this class will automatically revert to an on-line class.   We need a minimum of 6 students to run this class and a maximum of 14 students to comply with current CDC recommendations.

HEROES VS. VILLIANS (In-Person with Anthony Tartaglia)

Grades 3-5, MONDAY 4:00 – 5:00

Ever wonder what it takes to portray challenging characters? This is your chance to find out! In this class, students will have the opportunity to learn about how to develop full and fluid characters and to be able to become both heroes and villains.

DISNEY MANIA (In-Person with Anthony Tartaglia)

Grades 3-5, Tuesday 5:15 - 6:15

Reach out and find you're happily ever after! Taught by former Walt Disney World Cast Member, Anthony Tartaglia, students in grades 3-5 will explore different Disney musicals & movie musicals each week by performing remixed Disney original songs by various pop artists.

IMPROV (In-Person with Sandra Fernandes)

Grades 5-12, TUESDAY 5:15-615

Students will get the chance to develop vital acting skills and reflexes in this fun improv class! In this class, students will be given the opportunity to learn how to create entire scenes on their own, using simple prompts or cues. This class will also cover what to do if someone drops a line or loses their place during a live performance. Games will be played, jokes will be made, and fun will be had!

We need a minimum of 6 students to run this class and a maximum of 14 students to comply with current CDC recommendations.

 

Technical Theatre and Design Classes:

PRODUCTION DESIGN: The Little Mermaid Jr. (In-Person with Sandra Fernandes)

Grades 5-12, WEDNESDAY 4:00-5:00

In this technical theatre class, students will dive deep into the world of The Little Mermaid Jr.! This class will be tasked with creating sets, props, and costumes for this magical show! Students will also be able to participate as stage and tech crew for the production itself. This class will offer a hands-on learning opportunity providing students with the challenges of bringing the show to life. 

* Note - If there is a resurgence of COVID - 19 and in-person classes are not available as ordered by the State of Connecticut, Center Stage will evaluate the status of this class. We will either postpone the remaining classes until we can resume, or a credit will be issued for unused classes. We need a minimum of 6 students to run this class and a maximum of 14 students to comply with current CDC recommendations.

Performance Classes: 

PERFORMANCE CLASS (Musicals alive): FROZEN, JR (In-Person with Chelsea Rodrigues)

Grades 3-4 MONDAY/ WEDNESDAY 5:15-6:15

Whether you’re new to theater or have already been performing, Musicals Alive is your perfect fit! Join teacher/director Chelsea Rodrigues as you mount a full production of Disney’s “Frozen Kids!” This production experience teaches students about auditioning, production design, and the process of rehearsing and performing a musical. This class is for Grades 3 and 4 and performance experience is not required. The final presentation of Frozen Kids will be performed on Monday, December 9th and this class requires at least 20 students in order to run. Join in on the fun in Arendelle and don’t miss out on Musicals Alive! To properly cast the show, we will need a minimum of 15 students to enroll in order the run the class. Due to CDC guidelines, a maximum of 25 students will be allowed to register for this class. Rehearsal and performance will be held in the theatre to allow for proper social distancing.  

* Note - If there is a resurgence of COVID -  19, and in-person classes are not able to continue as ordered by the State of Connecticut,  Center Stage will evaluate the status of this class and either continue on-line or postpone the production until it is safe for students can come together again.    

ADVANCED PERFORMANCE CLASS: THE LITTLE MERMAID (In-Person with Katherine Sedlock)

Grades 5-9. MONDAY/WEDNESDAY 4:00-5:00 This is an advanced performance class and will require an audition to enroll. 

Katie Sedlock will be working with students to create a full-scale production of The Little Mermaid Jr.   Each student enrolled in this class will have a role in the production that will perform at the beginning of January. To properly cast the show, we will need a minimum of 15 students in order the run the class. Due to CDC guidelines, a maximum of 25 students will be allowed to register for this class. Rehearsal and performance will be held in the theatre to allow for proper social distancing.
