ASL in the Arts with Colby Trembley, Joe Ronan and Diane Gamse
Friday, April 30, 2021
4:30pm - 6:00pm
The use of American Sign Language (ASL) has been growing in mainstream theater in recent years. Most recently, DeafWest’s production of Spring Awakening made waves by showing ASL to a new generation on the Broadway stage. Join Deaf actor Joe Ronan (Mother Hicks, Taste of Sunrise), interpreter Diane Gamse, and hearing actor and ASL student Colby Trembley for a masterclass on ASL in the Arts. The masterclass will include a question and answer portion, teaching of the ASL alphabet, a discussion on how scripts or songs are converted into ASL and the learning of a song in ASL.
